Norway

The Norwegian Cavalry was founded on the 23. of April 1663, and is therefore one of the oldest cavalry units in the world. The dragoons came from large farms, and served as a part of the farmer's tax. Norway is populated of 4.900.000 citizens. Norway is a member of NATO, but not the EU.

Sweden

Sweden has the most modern tank fleet in the world, with their Leopard 2 Improved. Sweden also produce their own tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, handguns, artillery, fighter planes and so on. Sweden is populated with 9.400.000 citizens, are a neutral contry, member of the EU.

Denmark

Denmark has no military industry, and rely on foreign import. Their primary tank is the Leopard 2. Most of the equipment is imported from NATO-countries. Denmark is a member of NATO and the EU. Denmark is populated of 5.500.000 citizens

Sweden sends armoured cars to Afghanistan

galten_afghanistanThe armoured car Personterrängbil 6 (type RG32) nicknamed "Galten" are now beeing issued to the Swedish-Finnish OMLT-forces at Camp Mike Spann near Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan. There are aproximately 15 RG32 serving the Swedish forces in Afghanistan now and a further 20 cars are to be shipped within 2009.

Some of the RG32s will be fitted with the KSP58 machine gun and night vision equipment.

When Sweden sent forces to Afghanistan in 2002, the security situation was different than it is now, and regular 4x4 cars was used. The more hostile environment has created a demand for armoured equipment. APCs and UAVs has also been shipped to Afghanistan.

The Operational Mentoring and Liasion Team (OMLT) is a group of Swedish officers and soldiers mentoring the Afghan Army.
