Danish Armour

Denmark has no military industry, and rely on foreign import. Their primary tank is the Leopard 1 and 2. Most of the equipment is imported from NATO-countries.

Denmark is a small country, only sharing borders with Germany. Sweden is conected with the Øresund bridge in the east, and Norway is a 4 hour long ferry ride to the north.

The Danish Army was originaly a small army that was constructed to withstand enemy pressure until support from NATO countries arrive, but this has changed. Now the Danish Army are deploying more often abroad in peace reinforcement missions. Therefor their equipment are the most modern available.

• Maintain the sovereignty of Denmark
• Encourage a peacefull development i the world, with the respect for the human rights

Tasks for the Danish Army:

1. Prevent crisis, crisis management and collective defense
2. Sovereignty and authoroty duty
3. Confidence and stability tasks
4. Peace supporting missions
5. Other tasks like maritime control, rescue services, environmental etc.
6. Maintain military capability

Now the country has a highly skilled and trained personell intended to be used in peace keeping missions. Denmark is the only Scandinavian country that has main battle tanks in foreign service (Former Republic of Yuogoslavia). The white painted Leopard 1A5 marked "UN" had a tremendous respect amongs the Serbs.

Due to the flat landside, Danish armor has to be selfsupported with dozerblades to dig firing positions. Almost every fourth tank has a dozerblade mounted to the front. The dozerblade can be substituded with a mine plow
