Danish Artillery   
Denmark uses the widely NATO used M109 howitzer and the new MLRS rocket launcher as their primary artillery. Denmark also uses towed artillery, not covered here.


  M270A1 MLRS  


Denmark has bought 12 MLRS units from the USA (8 in the 18th Raketkasterbatteri og 4 in the 17th Raketkasterbatteri). It has gone through some modification (theirby the designation M270A1).

  M109A3  

Denmark received the last of 76 units in 1970.

The Danish selfpropelled howitzer M109A3 are modified from the standard version to the A,1 then to the A2 version. The Danish designation is M109A3 (upgrade programme ended in 1989).

Armed with a 155 mm gun and 12.7 mm (cal. .50) machine-gun. 28 grenades are carried by each howitzer. The weapon can fire a variety of ammunition, including HE, tactical nuclear, illuminating, smoke and chemical rounds. Effective range is approx. 18 km.
